Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Home Health Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Average Patient Load: 6-7 patients per day (to be confirmed during interview)
  • Types of Cases: Geriatric patients
  • Territory: Up to a 60-mile radius from the office/hub
  • Dress Code: Scrubs of any color; jeans are not allowed
  • Equipment Provided: Cell phone and iPad
  • Mileage: Reimbursed at IRS standard rate
  • Communication: Timely communication is required
  • Flexibility: Travelers must be flexible with territory coverage
  • Locals: Local candidates accepted at travel rate
  • On-call: Not required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1 year of Home Health nursing experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with HCHB Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Proficiency with OASIS documentation

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start and updated annually. Includes:
    • SSN Trace
    • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
    • FACIS Level 1
    • Nationwide Sex Offender Registry
    • Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)
    • Education and Work History Verification
    • State-specific searches as applicable
  • Fingerprinting: Required as applicable by state regulations and must be current (e.g., Ohio, Connecticut)
  • Education Verification: Verification of highest degree related to profession required
  • Employment History: Full 7 years of work history with no gaps, verified within 90 days of start
  • References: Two professional references within 2 years of start (requirements vary by facility location)
  • Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Physical Exam: Physician statement within last 12 months (not required annually)
  • TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations: Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Flu and COVID-19: Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required during flu season; COVID vaccination or declination required
  • Orientation: Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and Joint Commission training, updated annually
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and competency exams as applicable

  • Auto Insurance: Proof of current auto insurance required due to driving responsibilities
  • Acceptable Use Policy: Must be completed prior to start
  • Flu and COVID Statement: Required if declining flu vaccine
  • State-Specific Registries and Searches: Must comply with state-specific requirements (e.g., Missouri Family Services, Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Registry, Virginia State Police background check)
