Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – BMT (Oncology / Mixed Acuity PCU and MS Unit)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Shift: Night shifts (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit specializing in oncology and mixed acuity medical-surgical/telemetry patients.
- Patient population includes diagnoses such as:
- Acute and Chronic Leukemias (ALL, AML, CLL, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia)
- Amyloidosis, Aplastic Anemia
- Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
- Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myeloproliferative Disorders
- Special procedures include:
- Autologous, Syngeneic, and Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants
- CAR-T Therapy administration
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of oncology experience within the last year, including inpatient hematology oncology
- Experience in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) nursing
- Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification
- Experience with central line blood draws and care
- Experience using Epic electronic medical record system
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply).
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start.
- Required health documents include:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- Fit mask testing required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles.
- Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start.
- Unit-specific competency exams.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%, max 3 attempts).
- License verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification for RN license.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
- Employment application required, including education details.
- Skills checklist completion required.
- Pending background check attestation must be collected if fingerprint results are pending at start.
Shift Details
- 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week.
- Rotating shifts option available (days and nights), with scheduling reviewed every 4 weeks but not guaranteed.

Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
