Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
• Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Comprehensive background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
• Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
• Two professional references from employment within the past year required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Certifications and Competencies

• ACLS and BLS must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
• Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required during orientation (90% passing for medication, 80% for ECG). Not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts.
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• SafeMedicate prep materials provided for exam preparation.

Health and Safety Documentation

• Physical exam confirming ability to perform essential job functions (including latex allergy notification if applicable).
• Fit mask (N95) testing and annual updates required; PAPRs only approved with documented medical or religious exemption.
• Immunization records must be official and include boosters if titers are negative or equivocal.
• Annual flu vaccination required with agency-approved exemption process if applicable.
• Drug screening must be a standard 10-panel test, updated annually.
• Eye exam (Snellen) valid within 1 year.

Additional Notes

• Candidates with a break in employment longer than 30 days may need to update physical and eye exams.
• Fingerprinting results must be received prior to contract extension; candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start.
• Onboarding modules are high priority and must be completed before clearance to start.
• Candidates must use their legal name consistently across all documentation.
• References and employment history must be thorough and include explanations for any gaps.
