Registered Nurse (NICU) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Rotating Day/Night schedule (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
  • Hours per week: 48
  • Weekend work required based on unit needs (details discussed during interview)
  • Local candidates within 75 miles radius accepted at the same rate

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Clear copy of driver’s license or passport (front and back)
  • Background checks within 30 days of start, including:
    • 7-year search with aliases
    • SS Trace, Counties, Nationwide, Statewide, National Sex Offender, OFAC
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
    • Education verification (diploma acceptable as placeholder)
  • Employment application with 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps
  • Two professional references from supervisors within the past 2 years
  • Work history verification for the last 7 years
  • Skills checklist updated within 1 year of start
  • Competency exams with minimum 80% pass rate (including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency if applicable)
  • Annual mandatory trainings and competencies: Core Parts I, II, III; OSHA; HIPAA
  • Photo for badge (chest up, solid background, no others in photo)
  • Signed facility-specific agreements including confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict of interest, contractor checklist
  • Pediatric Medication Calculation Exam required for all RNs

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by NP, PA, or MD, confirming ability to work full day without restrictions
  • Respiratory fit test annually (acceptable masks include 3M 1860 Regular, 1860S, 1870+ Aura Universal)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (TD and declinations not accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually; for positive TB history, documentation and questionnaire required annually
  • Immunization or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Drug testing (10 panel) within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by deadline
