Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Call: 1 week every 2 months
  • Start Date: ASAP preferred
  • Unit: Electrophysiology (EP) Lab
  • Special Procedures:
    • Cardiac Implant Closure Device
    • Pacemaker/Defibrillator lead extraction/removal
    • Arrhythmia Induction
    • Baseline Measurements
    • Cardiac Ablation
    • Cardiac Mapping
    • Cardioversion
    • Conduction Studies
    • Insertion/Programming of AICDs
    • Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure
    • Pacemaker Insertion

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Electrophysiology Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:
    • Social Security trace
    • Counties lived/worked
    • Nationwide check
    • Sex offender registry
    • Motor Vehicle Record (if driving required)
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific Ohio codes
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Professional references: 2 required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire annually)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation)
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Fit mask test annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles (valid for entire assignment)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency and Training Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Background and compliance training including fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate (updated annually)
  • License verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Confidential fraud, waste, and abuse reporting form required
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • Fingerprinting results must be submitted with all pages included for adjudication if there are any hits
  • Facility may allow renewal of ACLS and BLS certifications onsite
