Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Initiate communication to assess individual patient and family needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to share information and coordinate care.
• Provide detailed patient and family education during inpatient stay and at discharge following prescribed teaching plans.
• Respond effectively to verbal and non-verbal communication from patients, families, colleagues, supervisors, and physicians.
• Make ethical decisions and actions on behalf of patients, demonstrating sensitivity to personal and cultural values.
• Involve patients and families in care planning, respecting cultural, spiritual, and belief systems.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid New York State license.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Wound and Ostomy Certification preferred.
• Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.

Skills and Physical Demands

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
• Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, and some repetitive motions.
