Job Opportunity: Surgical Nursing/Orthopedic Staff RN

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients using the nursing process within established standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess young adult, adult, and elderly patients.
• Provide pre and post-operative care for general, bariatric, orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, genitourinary cases.
• Manage pain and administer medications.
• Perform chest tube care/insertion, PEG, G-tube, J-tube care, traction, and drainage care (Percutaneous, Sump, Jackson Pratt, Hemovac).
• Access and manage central lines, specialized IV drips, IV therapy, IVADD, transfusion therapy, and waive testing.
• Conduct NIH Stroke Scale assessments and KODA.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and responses.
• Provide individualized, age-specific care supporting hemostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiologic functioning.
• Treat patients and families with respect, maintain confidentiality, and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Function as a patient advocate and team leader.
• Supervise and allocate work to other healthcare staff.
• Assist physicians with procedures.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and serve as a preceptor for new employees.
• Maintain patient care equipment and ensure proper supply stock.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, personnel guidelines, and dress code.
• Perform housekeeping and patient transportation duties as needed.
