Surgical Tech

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Day (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Call Requirements: Two nights per week and every 5th weekend

Job Summary

The Surgical Tech assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon throughout the procedure. This role requires knowledge of procedures across all patient age groups (neonate through geriatric), the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in dynamic surgical environments, and readiness to respond immediately in urgent or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.
Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation.
Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy.
Adhere to professional standards of practice.

Required Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Proficient in surgical instrumentation handling.
Knowledgeable in surgical technology and aseptic technique.
