• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Every other weekend

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care focused on protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities.
• Prevent illness and injury, alleviate suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human responses.
• Advocate for patients and families in a patient-centered care environment.
• Comply with New York State Nurse Practice Act and professional nursing standards.
• Promote a caring and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to policy.
• Manage resources effectively including staffing, time, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning for new employees and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
• Assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
