Job Summary
- Perform non-invasive vascular test procedures to evaluate peripheral vascular disease.
- Demonstrate clinical proficiency in vascular testing, medical diagnoses, nursing interventions, vascular assessments, and age-specific patient care.
- Use technical and continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes and hospital/community resources to plan and provide direct patient care.
- Follow department and hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain and improve job knowledge and skills.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform vascular history and patient assessment.
- Verify ordered exams and their appropriateness.
- Establish and document vascular technology diagnoses contributing to the plan of care.
- Select appropriate equipment based on patient presentation and exam objectives.
- Conduct exams according to protocols and physician orders.
- Identify vascular technology interventions based on diagnoses.
- Evaluate vascular morphology and physiology.
- Recognize and compensate for technical artifacts to optimize disease identification.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for ongoing patient care.
- Document patient responses to exams.
- Identify and document normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pathophysiology.
- Notify physician and lead technologist of adverse patient changes or critical disease requiring immediate intervention.
- Reassess and modify vascular diagnoses and care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Provide patient and public health education.
- Maintain knowledge of current vascular diagnostic techniques and meet accreditation educational requirements.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Vascular Technologist, with experience within the last year.
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Vascular Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Allied Health Field.
Certifications & Licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- One of the following vascular certifications:
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
- Vascular Sonography ARRT (VS)
Shift & Hours
- Day shift: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
