Respiratory Therapist I

Location: Lenoir, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Administer standard respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, arterial cannulation, and arterial punctures.
• Manage airway care: aspiration of established airways, tracheostomy care and tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations.
• Perform pulmonary function testing as needed.
• Provide respiratory care and advanced procedures such as UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and blood glucose monitoring as required.
• Manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when working with ECMO.
• Perform all aspects of ventilator care including setup, verification, specialized ventilator modes, patient monitoring, and weaning techniques.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians, assist in training new staff, students, and physicians, and provide in-services.
• May assume Charge Therapist responsibilities.
• Maintain complete and accurate patient care documentation in electronic medical records.
• May be required to be on-call during days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
• Respiratory Therapist with 0 years of experience
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience working with adult patients
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Experience with Bella Vista BiPAP devices.
• Preferred experience with G5 Hamilton Ventilator, V60 BiPAP, Volera System, and Vest System.

Additional Information

• This position involves working nights with 12-hour shifts.
• Contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
• May require on-call availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
