Job Summary

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Care is delivered using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and available resources within the institution's philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to operating room nursing practice.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for healthcare team use.
• Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions based on continuous evaluation.
• Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and resolve issues professionally.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
• Identify personal learning needs and pursue appropriate solutions.
• Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Department-Specific Functions

• Complete patient assessments reflecting condition and document data in EPIC.
• Recognize normal and abnormal findings and notify physicians as appropriate.
• Establish patient care plans and set goals.
• Establish IVs on patients over 8 years old, adhering to the "5 rights" of medication administration.
• Participate in the surgical "time out" process with OR RN team members.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years relevant nursing experience

Education

• Required: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
• Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Certifications & Licensure

• Illinois State RN License in good standing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Heart Association
