Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care Unit (ACCU) - Registry
Location: Moreno Valley, California
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Registry
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 12 hours per shift
Contract Length: 52 weeks (1 year)
Job Description
- Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs within specified time frames.
- Reassess patients’ health needs at least every shift or as warranted by condition changes.
- Establish and update individualized plans of care based on comprehensive data and reassessments.
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the "7 rights" of medication administration.
- Assess and document medication and treatment effectiveness and any adverse effects.
- Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy.
- Document patient care, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress toward goals accurately and legibly.
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs.
- Interpret and analyze diagnostic data and intervene appropriately.
- Communicate promptly any changes in patient condition to physicians and healthcare team members using SBAR communication for handoffs.
- Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
- Manage patients in restraints according to policy and understand application criteria.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including use of two patient identifiers.
- Understand and participate in disaster plans and rapid response team activation.
- Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Haz Mat, Code Red, Oxygen shut off).
- Follow infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols.
- Adhere to the Chain of Command appropriately.
- Practice hand hygiene before and after patient contact.
- Follow guidelines for Core Measures and vaccine control.
Critical Care Nurse Specific Tasks
- Document initial assessments, multidisciplinary care plans, progress notes, ICU flow sheets, medication records, medication reconciliation, critical values, and telephone orders.
- Use Pyxis system appropriately for narcotics.
- Follow policies for administration of high-risk medications.
- Utilize pressure monitoring, bedside cardiac monitors, recognize cardiac dysrhythmias, and operate specialty beds.
- Manage pain and sedation protocols.
- Follow early mobility protocols.
- Adhere to protocols for sepsis, ventilator-associated pneumonia, pressure ulcers, and central line care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of nurse-collected specimens for Type and Cross/Screen.
- Accurately assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of critically ill patients.
- Access appropriate resources when assistance is needed.
- Locate and use unit-specific policies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current California RN License.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- CA RN License.
- Conscious Sedation experience.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) knowledge.
- Recent ICU RN experience in an acute care facility: 5 years minimum.
- CCRN certification highly preferred.

- Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
- 12-hour shifts.
