Job Opportunity: Associate Director of Nursing

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing - IPC
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

  • Serve as off-shift weekend/holiday supervisor.
  • Assume shift responsibility for overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care on the unit.
  • Lead clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management, and quality management on the unit.
  • Promote patient-focused care and foster collaboration and respect among healthcare team members.

Key Responsibilities

Standard Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards (e.g., CMS, IHI, CAP).
  • Develop quality and performance improvement programs.
  • Use tracer methodology tools to develop corrective action plans ensuring quality care.

Operational Performance

  • Develop and monitor personnel, supply, and equipment budgets.
  • Create long-term staffing schedules ensuring adequate daily coverage.
  • Monitor unit operational performance metrics, including agency and overtime costs.

Clinical Practice / Patient Care

  • Collaborate to establish nursing care standards and evaluate staff compliance.
  • Facilitate support services essential to patient care.
  • Maintain a safe, culturally sensitive, and caring environment for patients and families.

Management

  • Participate in overall service planning.
  • Use patient and staff satisfaction survey results to establish customer service and recruitment/retention agendas.
  • Develop effective nursing care delivery plans for the unit.

Human Resource Development / Management

  • Educate and evaluate staff on procedures and systems.
  • Provide growth and development opportunities for personnel.
  • Establish unit metrics and goals to measure retention strategy effectiveness.

Physical Demands

  • Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, and some repetitive motions.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience
  • At least 3 years of experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing, including experience within the last year
  • Previous supervisory experience in nursing roles
