Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Location: Belle Mead, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Schedule: 3 shifts every 2 weeks (3 x 12), every other weekend required
Holiday/On-Call: No holiday or on-call requirement
Floating: Floating required

Job Summary

• Provide individualized quality patient care by assessing patient needs and designing, implementing, and evaluating care plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to achieve patient goals.
• Perform nursing admission assessments considering patient age, disability, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitor effects, and document accordingly.
• Participate in treatment planning conferences and update master treatment plans weekly.
• Provide age-appropriate patient and family education, considering cultural and disability factors.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment, adhering to infection control and safety policies.
• Document patient information accurately and timely, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and orientation of new staff and students.
• Conduct nursing psycho-educational groups as scheduled.
• Model professional standards of behavior.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience
• Behavioral health nursing experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting

Additional Information

• Must be able to work collaboratively with treatment teams and support patient plans for continuing care.
• Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality and chart security.
• Participate in unit performance improvement and quality assurance activities.
• Orientation and training of new or transferred personnel and students may be required.
