Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician (Night Shift)
Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting of test results in compliance with regulatory requirements and policies. Work in a hospital laboratory providing services in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy. The laboratory operates 24-hour coverage with rotating day, evening, or night shifts, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
Shift Details
- Night shift schedule typically runs from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch (11 working hours per shift).
- Alternates weekly between three 11-hour shifts (33 hours) and four 11-hour shifts (44 hours).
- Initial training schedule varies: either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts depending on trainer availability.
- Average hours per week: 40.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or GED, and completion of an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks with the occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
- Medical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Medical Laboratory Technician experience.
Certification
- Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) is required and must be maintained current and in good standing.
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
- COVID and flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted upon submission of a declination form.
- Housing application must be submitted 2 weeks prior to start.
