Registered Nurse (IR RN) - Washington, Renton

Job Overview

• Position in Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology (IR) with additional duties in CT, Ultrasound, and MRI procedure areas.
• Hybrid OR room available; involvement with diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Average daily cases: 17 in Cath Lab, 22-23 including other areas.
• Recovery area includes a 17-bed post-procedure unit with procedures such as bone marrow aspiration, bronchoscopies, and cardioversions requiring conscious sedation skills.
• Work schedule options:

  • Procedural nurses: 3 shifts of 12 hours (7am-7pm) or 4 shifts of 10 hours (9am-7:30pm).
  • Pre-procedure and Recovery nurses: 4 shifts of 10 hours (noon-10:30pm or 2pm-12:30am).
• Call requirements:

  • On call one night per week.
  • Weekend call every 3rd or 4th weekend.
  • Holiday call rotation, approximately one holiday per year.
  • Call response time: 30 minutes for procedure nurses and techs; 45 minutes for recovery nurses.
• Floating to other areas is voluntary.

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Ventilator and pressor management skills necessary for procedure rooms.
• Ability to perform conscious sedation in recovery.
• Must be able to assist in EP cases only if skills are validated by manager.

Patient Population & Procedures

• Patient types: Vascular, Neurology, Electrophysiology (EP), Cardiology, IR, Cath Lab.
• Procedures include:

  • Cath Lab: diagnostic and interventional, rotablator, shockwave, diagnostic right heart catheterizations.
  • IR: ports, G tubes, drains, nephrostomies, biliary drains, dialysis lines.
  • EP: ablations, device implantation, temporary pacemakers (with anesthesia support).
• Recovery room procedures include bone marrow aspirations, bronchoscopies, and cardioversions.

Equipment & Technology

• Epic EMR system.
• GE MACLab, Siemens X-ray, PACS imaging systems.

Orientation & Support

• 2 weeks of unit-specific orientation, length depends on traveler experience.
• Buddy call support for first 3-4 weeks.

Work Environment

• 3 procedure rooms with a 4th under construction.
• Cath Lab tech support: 10 techs daily, 3 per room, with on-call coverage.
• Charge nurse and supervisor tech available for support.
• Scrubs and dress code provided.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IR or Cath Lab nursing (based on specialty requirements).
• No history of license issues related to medication diversion or endangerment (applicants with such issues will be disqualified and contracts canceled).
