Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Tele RN)

Location: Freeport, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Telemetry Registered Nurse with experience in stroke care and cath lab post recovery. The role involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as stroke, CHF, ACS, CAD, and post heart catheterization arrhythmias.

Required Qualifications

• Illinois RN License
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cath lab post recovery (femoral/radial) and stroke care (preferred)
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Phlebotomy certification is a plus
• Experience with drip medications (must have drip experience)
• Familiarity with Meditech is a plus

Work Environment & Details

• Unit: Telemetry (18 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4-5 patients during day shifts, 5-6 patients during night shifts
• Common titratable medications: Set - Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine; Titrate - Heparin
• Telemetry monitoring: RNs sign off on central telemetry strips; monitor techs assist
• Equipment used: BiPAP, High Flow oxygen
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Scheduling: Scheduled on shifts most in need
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Holiday rotation
• Call/standby: Not required for agency nurses
• Floating: Yes, may float to ICU, Medical-Surgical, or ER within scope of practice
• Orientation: Department-specific orientation of 2 twelve-hour shifts

Additional Notes

• Charge Nurse has patient assignments; House Supervisor does not
• Nurse aides available; ratio depends on patient acuity (typically 2 CNAs)
• Scrub color: Any color allowed
