Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse)
Location: Bemidji, Minnesota
Specialty: Non-Surgical Specialty/Triage Clinic RN
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Provide clinical oversight in non-surgical specialty clinics including Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Pain Management, and Neurology.
- Serve as backup triage nurse for Main Clinic (phone and in-person), requiring strong triage and assessment skills.
- Familiarity with specialty clinic operations, preferably across multiple specialties.
- Provide patient education and mentoring/support to clinical staff.
- Collaborate with clinic leadership to develop and standardize workflows.
- Train new RNs toward the end of the contract, requiring strong coaching and teaching skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering with leadership.
Procedures and Responsibilities by Specialty
- Pulmonology: Pulmonary function testing, nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapy, spirometry, peak flow monitoring.
- Endocrinology: Blood glucose monitoring device downloads (CGM, insulin pumps), insulin administration and education.
- Rheumatology: Navigating therapy plans in EPIC, communication with Infusion Center.
- Nephrology: Blood pressure monitoring, fluid assessment, dialysis preparation education, medication reconciliation.
- Infectious Disease: Therapy plan navigation in EPIC, wound care.
- Pain Management: Pain assessments, medication administration, patient education on pain management.
- Neurology: Coordination with neurodiagnostic procedures, medication administration, patient education on neurological disorders and testing.
Equipment and Systems
- EPIC electronic health record system (including in-basket management and triage functions).
- EKG machines.
- Insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) downloads.
- Telehealth technology (Tyto Care).
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Active Minnesota RN license.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ambulatory clinics with in-basket work.
- EPIC experience required.
- Specialty experience preferred in areas such as Infectious Disease or Pulmonology.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days/week, 8-hour shifts with lunch),
OR - Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (4 days/week, 10-hour shifts with lunch).
Additional Information
- No floating expected due to specialty focus; may assist with ambulatory triage coverage.
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
- Orientation includes a competency pathway with preceptor guidance and collaboration with department leaders to understand workflows and expectations.
