OB/L&D Registered Nurse (RN) - Bemidji, Minnesota

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Active Minnesota State RN license
• BLS (AHA) - Active and required
• ACLS (AHA) - Active and required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Active and required
• PALS preferred but not required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of OB/L&D experience
• Experience with postpartum and pediatric patients

Job Responsibilities

• Care for postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric patients, newborns, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow
• May serve as second RN in Special Care Nursery (SCN)
• Willingness to float to other units such as Telemetry and Med-Surg as needed (travelers are first to float per union contract)
• Work includes Labor, Postpartum, Nursery, and Pediatrics units

Unit Details

• Average daily census:

  • 5 mom/baby couplets
  • 2 pediatrics
  • 1 GYN
  • 2 labor
  • 4 SCN patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:3 mom/baby couplets
  • 1:5 GYN/Med-Surg patients
  • 1:3-4 pediatrics
• Support staff includes ward clerk (7am-7pm), CNA (Tues-Thurs), charge nurse/circulator, resource nurse, and LPN scrub nurse without assignments

Equipment and Systems Used

• EPIC One Chart (EMR system)
• Acudose
• Philips Vitals Machines
• Bladder Scanner
• Medula Breast Pumps
• Responder 5 Call Light System
• Medfusion Pumps

Schedule and Shift Details

• Variable shifts including days, nights, weekends, and rotating holidays
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Must assist in filling schedule vacancies due to onboarding, vacancies, or staff on FMLA

Additional Information

• Must be willing to float to Med-Surg and Telemetry units
• Equipment and unit orientation provided on first day
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Candidates must disclose if they have previously worked for the facility; if so, there must be a 6-month gap before reapplying

This position is suitable for experienced OB/L&D nurses with required certifications and flexibility to work variable shifts and float to other units.
