Registered Nurse (Inpatient Rehab/MedSurg)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Seeking multiple Registered Nurses for an inpatient rehab unit with acute, post-acute, and neuro patients. The unit has 35 beds and serves adults and geriatrics with conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury (SCI), amputations, brain injury (BI), critical illness, neurological diseases including MS and Parkinson’s.
Unit Details
- Bed count: 35
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Days: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6
- Charge Nurse present on each shift
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available with ratios of 1:10-15
- Common drips: antibiotics, anticoagulation, antiplatelets (RNs are not required to titrate drips)
- Floating: Nurses will float to MedSurg unit
Shifts & Scheduling
- Shift times:
- Days: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Nights: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Scheduling: Cyclic self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: At minimum every 3rd weekend
- Holiday requirement: At minimum 2 holidays
- No call or standby requirement
Orientation
- Classroom orientation plus 2 twelve-hour shifts on the unit
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Current RN license
- BLS certification required
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book, resources provided)
- Driver’s license required at submission (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within the 50-mile radius
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
- Recommended attributes for success: strong communication, organization, teamwork, innovative problem solving, compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, collaboration
- Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals
