Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • Unit: 4th Floor East Wing
  • Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Number of Beds: 55
  • Patient Population: Adults primarily; pediatric patients rarely, age 15 and older
  • Common Diagnoses: CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, weakness

Work Schedule

  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Shift Times: 0630-1830 (day), 1830-0630 (night)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • RN-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4 (days and nights)

Team & Support

  • Nursing Assistant support available
  • Charge Nurse present
  • Additional Unit Support: Educator, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy

Equipment & Technology

  • EMR System: EPIC
  • IV Pumps: Alaris
  • Specialty Equipment: Mechanical lifts in every other room
  • Common Drips/Medications: PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, insulin

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Telemetry competency required

Additional Information

  • Scrubs: Navy Blue for RNs
  • Float: Yes, ideally to Medical-Surgical areas based on highest need
  • Unit Challenges: Staffing
  • Patient Experience Focus: Hourly rounding and responsiveness
  • Nail Policy: Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
  • Orientation Exam: RN candidates must pass a 90% score on an open book skills exam during orientation or face contract termination
