Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California
• 2 years of L&D experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• Adv-AWHONN

Preferred Qualifications

• STABLE

Unit Details

• Ratios: L&D 1:2, 1:1 for active delivery; MB 1:4 (couplets)
• EMR: Cerner
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but does break relief
• No nurse aides
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays rotate with core staff
• Scrub color provided
• No tele
• No vents
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house during the day; OB and anesthesia on-call at night
• No IV team
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7 is not available; on-call pharmacist supports orders and remote pharmacy supports deliveries if needed
• No floating; responsible for L&D or MB
• Floor orientation is 2 to 3 days with a preceptor
• Typical patients include standard L&D, term, preterm, couplets, newborns on IV antibiotics and/or short-term O2, and general GYN patients
• Must be strong in an emergency and able to work independently
• 2 RNs and 1 RT are present during every delivery

Scheduling Notes

• Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance
• No self-scheduling
• Travelers can make themselves available for extra shifts and make trades with other staff
• Block scheduling is generally not available
• Holiday time off is considered but not guaranteed
• Travelers work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s

Additional Requirements

• 2 supervisor references are required at submittal, with 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years worked
