MS/Tele/Oncology RN

Overview

• 12-hour day shifts
• 48 hours per week
• 6-week contract
• Unit: M/S/Oncology/Tele
• 15 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• NIHSS
• EPIC experience
• Basic Dysrhythmia exam pass required before signing the contract
• Must be able to read tele strips
• Experience with telemetry, trach, PEG care, foley, central line, medication administration, assessments, nursing care plan, patient teaching, oxygen management, IV, and NGT
• Must be able to float first
• May not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year

Preferred

• Meditech experience
• Oncology experience

Schedule

• Self-scheduling available
• Block scheduling allowed
• Weekend requirement: 8-9 per 6-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: 2 major and 1 minor
• Call or standby required

Float Scope

• May float between Bryan and College Station campus

Unit Details

• Common diagnoses/patient types include COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, UTI, AMS, pancreatitis, diverticulitis, all types of cancer diagnosis, hospice, and non-cardiac related telemetry monitoring due to hyperkalemia, renal failure, and sepsis
• Centralized monitoring is available
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are present, ratio 1:15
• CPAP equipment used
• Navy scrubs required; navy undershirts required; navy scrub jackets optional
• Orientation: 3-6 shifts
