Job Description

• General Duties:

  • Provide care for a wide range of patients, from newborns to the elderly, including critically ill patients and those in cardiac arrest.
  • Work in a Level 1 trauma center, with a specialized trauma team.
  • Travelers may care for trauma patients once stabilized and transferred to a pod.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum Experience:

  • At least 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred.
• Required Skills:

  • General nursing skills.
  • Experience in a Level 1 trauma center and with SANE RN preferred but not required.

Licensure and Certifications

• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TNS (Trauma Nurse Specialist)

Shift and Schedule

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts.
• Scheduling:

  • Positions are not day/night rotating.
  • Every other weekend and holiday required.
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated.
  • No call requirement for travelers.

Unit Information

• Bed Size: 65 beds (all private).
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3-5 (variable based on acuity).
• Dress Code:

  • No specific colored scrubs; tasteful scrubs with solid colored shirts underneath.

Orientation and Training

• Training Program:

  • First day includes EPIC training and mandatory department training.
  • Two full 12-hour shifts of orientation on the floor.

Additional Information

• Candidates must provide information regarding time off requests, active IL RN license, and certifications.
• Understanding of drug-free campus policy and requirement for a negative drug screen is necessary.
