ICU Contract Clinician Opportunity

Location: Huron, South Dakota
Facility: Huron Regional Medical Center

Job Overview

• Specialty: ICU with additional duties in ER and MedSurg
• Employment Type: Contract Clinician
• Contract Length: 13 weeks with possible extension
• Shift: Mostly nights (three 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am), every third weekend required
• Hours: Guarantee 36 hours per week
• Floating: Required to float between ICU, ER, and MedSurg units

Unit Details

• Unit Size: 6-bed ICU
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: Not specified
• Dress Code: Scrubs of choice
• Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital (CAH)

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2+ years ICU experience required
• 2+ years MedSurg experience required
• ER experience required
• Experience with cardiac drips, vasopressor drips, nitro drips
• Ventilator experience (Drager Ventilator)
• Major surgical patient care experience
• Knowledge of elderly care with multiple co-morbidities
• Pediatric care beneficial
• Care of epidural patients
• Cardioversion with conscious sedation
• Critical thinking and strong assessment skills for critical care patients
• Ability to recognize subtle changes in patient condition
• Strong communication skills with physicians and team members
• Knowledge of cardiac rhythms
• Ability to follow comprehensive protocols
• Responsible for running code blues in ICU/MedSurg until physician arrival

Equipment & Systems

• Mindray cardiac monitoring
• Drager Ventilator
• CPSI documentation system (training provided)

Licensure & Certifications

• South Dakota or compact nursing license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred

Additional Information

• Candidate must be willing to float between ICU and MedSurg as needed
• Orientation and unit-specific training provided
• Candidate should be prepared for night shifts and weekend work as scheduled
