Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: RN Trauma ICU
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Call Requirements: None
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off per month, no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
- Floating: Mandatory float facility; ICU RNs float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and may float to Medical-Surgical units as needed
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in ICU
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
Additional Information
- Locals accepted, preferred to live within 75 miles of the facility
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Charting system used: Cerner
- Scrub color: Navy Blue (not provided)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases and various national/statewide checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required as of 8/21/2025
Competency Exams (Required within 12 months of start)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (for starts after 1/16/24)
- General Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (preferred for ER RNs)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific HIS forms for RNs and other roles as applicable
- Compliance with Cook County Health and Hospitals System rules of behavior
