Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Utica, New York

Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Description

  • Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - 5th Floor
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1, may be 5:1 depending on acuity
  • Required Skills/Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
    • Experience with drips including neo up to 100, precedex, and insulin at IMCU level of care
  • Required Certifications and Licenses:
    • New York RN License
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
    • Epic electronic health record experience required
  • Other Requirements:
    • Return to Office (RTO) within 7 days or less, with only 1 holiday allowed off

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Emergency Contact Form prior to start
  • Background Checks including:
    • 7-year residence/work/school history
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM verification (annual)
    • HHS/OIG verification (annual)
    • Education Verification
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS and BLS (AHA strongly preferred)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
    • Harassment Prevention Training (New York state requirement)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit; expires every 3 years)
    • Color Blind Testing (one-time)
    • NY Harassment Prevention Training (annual)
  • Facility Specific Documents:
    • Photo for badge (headshot, plain background)
    • Job Description acknowledgment
    • Welcome Packet acknowledgment
    • Omnicell Form (signed by nursing staff)
    • Completion of online learning modules prior to first shift
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
    • Immunizations or positive titers for:
      • Rubeola (Measles)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
      • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
    • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
    • Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination
  • References:
    • 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
    • 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care roles
