Job Opportunity: Pediatric Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Oakland, California
Shift: 12 Hour Nights
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Pediatric Oncology Registered Nurse with inpatient oncology experience to provide specialized care in a pediatric oncology setting.

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid California RN License
• Certifications:

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Pediatric Oncology/Inpatient Oncology
• Additional Requirements:

  • Current and valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history and other regulatory screenings
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:

    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
    • Two negative TB tests (one within 1 year, one within 3 months) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination (seasonal requirement)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption; booster 2 required for all travelers
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication competency exams required on first day
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Two supervisory references from most recent or second most recent employment
  • Resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained

Preferred Qualifications

• APHON certification
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC)
• Experience with Epic electronic health records
• Hematology/Oncology experience

Additional Information

• Must complete required UCSF learning modules and facility-specific documents prior to or shortly after start
• Background checks and license verifications must be current within 30 days of start
• Annual cybersecurity and HIPAA training required
• Pass/Fail Telemetry exam required for all RNs working in critical care, emergency, telemetry, and pediatric units
• Physical and health documentation must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start for facility review
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Pediatric Oncology RN working 12-hour night shifts in Oakland, CA. Candidates must have at least 2 years of pediatric oncology inpatient experience, hold a valid CA RN license, and current BLS and PALS certifications. Compliance with extensive health, background, and competency requirements is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include chemotherapy certification and Epic experience.
