Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (No weekends, no holidays, no on-call)

Job Description

• Position in DCAM (Ambulatory) Operating Room
• Surgical services include Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Gynecology
• Candidate should preferably have circulating and scrub experience

Required Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
• Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year based on references and typical OR RN requirements

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only

Competencies and Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (14 plate Ishihara)
• Unit-specific Competency Exam (updated every 3 years)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for ICU, PACU, Pediatrics, Tele)
• Core Parts I, II, III (annual updates)
• OSHA Mandatory Training (annual update)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Criminal Background Check within 6 months of start (7-year search including alias, county, national sex offender)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, PA, NP, or DO
• N95 Mask Fit Testing within 1 year (not required for sterile processing, clerical, remote)
• TDAP vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
• Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
• Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination; Surface AG and AB titers required for renal dialysis assignments
• Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Dec 1 - Apr 30)

Additional Requirements

• Minimum 1 professional reference from management and 1 employment verification covering 1 year of experience within the past 2 years
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required
• Facility-specific documents including badge photo, compliance checklists, fingernail policy, and online training modules must be completed prior to orientation
