Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Assignment includes potential placement on an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or be part of relief efforts.
  • Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Patient Census: Approximately 10 patients
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Float: May be floated to other ICUs (Neuro ICU or other critical care units) as needed
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend

Experience & Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU
  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years
  • Prior travel experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
  • Epic electronic health record experience required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Must be current and renewed annually
  • Preferred: NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Licensure

  • Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN license required upon submission
  • License must be current or in the process of renewal prior to start date

Additional Requirements

  • Current/valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID (color copy)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Education Verification as applicable
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (as applicable)
    • TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, recent, plain background) required within 24 hours of booking
  • Competency exam specific to specialty, updated annually, with minimum 80% score

Important Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments and potential extended onsite stays.
  • Float assignments limited to ICU units only.
  • CPI certification can be completed onsite during orientation week if not current at start.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
