Job Opportunity: Stepdown Neuro Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Unit: Neuro/Surgical Telemetry (Stepdown) floor
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
• Hours per week: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• No on-call duties, but may float to other Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units or low-acuity ICU
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Must be willing to work Memorial Day

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience within the last year
• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required (locals and first-time travelers accepted equally)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including nationwide and international if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands of position
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year or clear chest X-ray if prior positive
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Required immunizations or titers with boosters as needed:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or series; declination form required if booster declined)
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (11/1 - 3/31); no declinations or exemptions accepted
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start
• Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Completed employment application/resume
• Skills checklist as applicable to specialty
• EPIC test-out required prior to start (one attempt only; failure results in contract cancellation). Candidates may start with EPIC pending but must complete onsite testing.

Additional Notes

• Facility appearance standards must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• N95 fit test required within 1 year of start and updated annually; no PAPR allowed; failure to pass results in contract cancellation
• Floating may be required to other units within the facility system
