Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule:
    • Monday to Friday, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (40 hours/week)
    • Monday-Thursday shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (schedule posted monthly)
    • Friday shift: Variable first shift, location and time may differ; communicated in advance
  • Work Locations:
    • Monday-Thursday: Imaging Concourse
    • Friday: Nuclear Medicine/PET department (nearby location)
  • Patient Focus: Oncology imaging including whole-body FDG, brain PET, limited cardiac PET, and neuroendocrine imaging
  • Dress Code: Grey scrubs preferred (not provided)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable)
  • Experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification required immediately after contract signing
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Subcontractors must complete a background acknowledgement form prior to start
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and Compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Adult Tdap vaccination (not Td or DTaP) required; exemptions not allowed for those working with infants or pregnant patients
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series; signed declination acceptable
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); mask required if declining
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Fingerprinting results must be obtained prior to start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days or results are older than 1 year
