Job Details

  • Position: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
  • Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
  • Call: 1 night per week
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend every other month
  • Float Requirement: As needed
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduled
  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Provided

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Cardiac Stent Placement
  • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) Placement/Removal
  • Impella insertion
  • Left heart catheterization
  • Right heart catheterization
  • Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
  • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • Rotablator atherectomy
  • Administration and monitoring of procedural sedation

  • Use of emergency medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics
  • IV infusion pumps, starting and maintaining IVs
  • Activated Clotting Time (ACT) monitoring
  • Cardioversion and circulation procedures
  • End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
  • Infection prevention and isolation precautions (PPE)
  • Sheath removal and monitoring
  • Topical hemostasis techniques (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

  • Pre/Post Procedure care
  • Special Procedures including ASD Closures, TAVR, Valvuloplasty, Watchman procedure
  • Angioplasty, Carotid Stenting
  • Central Venous Access (Non-tunneled/PICC and Port Placement)
  • Dialysis Graft Creation/Revision and Interventional procedures
  • Endovascular Interventions and Vascular Scrub Procedures
  • Stent Graft Placement, SVC/IVC Venography, Thoracic Aortography
  • Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography
  • Use of External Compression Devices (C-Clamp, Sandbags)
  • Hypothermia and Malignant Hyperthermia protocols
  • 12 lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Radiation and Laser Safety
  • Vascular Closure Systems (Perclose, StarClose)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with exceptions for past positives)
  • Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Physical exam (per Aya Healthcare standards)
  • Mandatory education and training including medication safety, confidentiality, tobacco-free campus, annual compliance, and facility-specific orientation modules
  • Radiation badge required for Cath Lab staff
  • Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire)
  • Proof of logging into facility’s learning management system (I-Learn) within 24 hours of account setup
  • Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must pass with 82% or higher within 72 hours of start)
  • Color blindness testing within 1 year
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (Aya requirement)
  • References and performance evaluations as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must provide interview availability within 72 hours of submission.
  • Some shifts may start earlier (6:30 AM) or end later depending on procedural needs.
  • One of the four workdays per week will be a late shift to complete the last patient.
  • Facility provides scrubs and necessary orientation.
  • Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required education modules prior to start.
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season; mask required if exempted.
