MRI Tech (Mobile MRI Technologist)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Perform high-quality MRI examinations on various patient populations following established protocols under general supervision. Duties include general MRI exams and specialized imaging such as implants, elastography, defecography, breast, and cardiac MRI.


Work Schedule

  • Standard shift: Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM (5x8 hours)
  • Alternative shifts considered:
    • 4x10 hours (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM)
    • 3x12 hours (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM)
  • Weekend requirement: Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • No call requirement
  • Potential float between two nearby outpatient clinic locations

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required
    • BLS certification required

Skills

  • Proficient in general MRI exams and specialized imaging including implants, elastography, defecography, breast, and cardiac MRI

Facility & Work Environment

  • Outpatient clinic setting
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Dress code: Teal scrub top and black pants
  • Parking: No cost

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, cleared to work without restrictions
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination (declination accepted for Mumps and Rubella only)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days prior to start
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Radiation exposure attestation required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: Must be within 60 miles of the facility
  • Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern
  • Orientation modules must be completed within 5 days of start
