Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Springfield, Illinois

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift & Schedule

  • Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (1845-0715)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: Will float within scope to like units as needed
  • Block Schedule: Schedule requests can be discussed with manager
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Licensure

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years required
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Licensure: Must have an active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)

Patient Population & Unit

  • Unit Type: Intermediate Care (IMC)/General onsite telemetry
  • Average Daily Census: 38 patients
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet designated, Teaching hospital
  • Charting System: Cerner

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) may be required based on unit/specialty

Required Clinical Skills & Experience

Work Setting Experience

  • MS/Telemetry, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry
  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units

Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry monitoring (unit and remote)

Cardiovascular Case Skills

  • Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath and Surgery
  • Sheath Removal, TR band care

Gastrointestinal

  • Feeding tube care and management

Genitourinary/Renal

  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
  • Renal failure care

IV Therapy & Phlebotomy

  • Accessing ports, arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line, peripheral line, PICC line care and management
  • Starting IVs

Medication Management

  • Heparin protocols
  • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (with and without titration)
  • PCA management

Neurological/Psychiatric

  • Care for CVA patients
  • Experience with surgical drains

Respiratory

  • Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
  • External CPAP/BIPAP
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
  • Non-invasive airway management

Professional Skills

  • Isolation precautions
  • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Level I trauma experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Scrub Color: Any solid color
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost
  • Guaranteed Hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
  • Primary source verification of certifications and state license
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Badge photo required before start
  • Signed Code of Conduct and other facility-specific documents
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or documented exemptions for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (annual flu vaccine or approved exemption required)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Background check covering 7 years of history, updated annually
  • Required state-specific searches and registry checks for Illinois
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
  • Education verification required
