Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on neurological and medical intermediate patients. The unit cares for a sub-specialized neurological population alongside medical intermediate patients.
Key Details
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 and 48-hour shifts can be offered
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Average Daily Census: Up to 24 patients
- Contract Duration: 13 to 26 weeks
- Floating: Required to float to other intermediate and critical care areas
- Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends every 6 weeks (total 6 weekend shifts)
- Orientation: 32 hours (8-hour computer class + 2 shifts on unit)
- Dress Code: Navy blue and white scrubs
- Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR
- Scheduling: Self-schedule with staff approval
Patient Population
- Intermediate care patients with neurological sub-specialty needs
- Medical intermediate patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with PCU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with ventilators
- Experience with IV drips
Additional Requirements
- Floating to other units as needed
- Weekend shifts as scheduled
- Must complete all required documentation and training prior to start
- Photo for badge required ASAP after signing contract
- Must complete Epic training or test-out option if applicable
- Must complete annual compliance and facility-specific education modules
Notes
- Candidates must be reviewed against unit description requirements
- Teamwork and adherence to policies are strongly enforced
- RTO (Return to Office) is not allowed after booking and cannot be worked out onsite
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be passed within 72 hours of assignment start; three attempts allowed before cancellation
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Orientation includes both computer-based and hands-on unit training
