Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Respiratory Care with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required.
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in Respiratory Care.
  • First-time travelers: Accepted.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
  • On-call: Not required.
  • Floating: May float within scope as needed.
  • Locals: Not accepted.
  • Pending License: Accepted.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
  • Facility Type: Children's Acute Care Hospital, Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Neonate patients
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Weekend shifts every other weekend.
  • Floating to other units as needed within scope.
  • Work in a pediatric acute care setting with approximately 400 staffed beds.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Scrub color: Any or facility-specific T-shirts/jackets.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required.
  • Criminal background check within 6 months.
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • Education verification required prior to start.
  • State-specific background checks and registries as applicable.
  • Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgment, confidentiality forms, hand hygiene, dress code, and latex allergy questionnaire.
  • Completion of orientation modules (except for this specific facility).
  • Competency exams including pediatric and unit-specific exams, updated annually.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
  • Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start.
  • Annual regulatory compliance education and training.
  • Physical exam and immunization documentation must be current.
  • Fit mask testing mandatory; PAPR use only with medical or religious exemption and facility approval.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Pending licenses are accepted.
  • Locals are not accepted for this travel contract.
  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility policies and complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start.
