Job Description
- Night shift Telemetry RN position
- Weekend work required every other weekend (EOW) and as needed by the unit
- On-call as needed
- May float to other units within scope of practice, including different campuses (Summit or Herrick) with approximately 1.5 hours notice before shift start
- Shuttle service provided for floating between campuses
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid RN license in California
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
- Minimum 6 months of total travel nursing experience
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and other federal/state screenings as applicable
- Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Employment history verification covering 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually
Competency Exams (as applicable)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some Tele units)
- General competency exams with minimum passing scores
Additional Notes
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreements, HIPAA agreements, and orientation materials prior to start
- Floating flexibility is expected for all travel nurses
- Shuttle service available for floating between campuses
- Prior travel experience explicitly required (minimum 6 months)
This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs with prior travel nursing experience who are flexible and able to work night shifts with weekend and on-call responsibilities.
