Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Job Description

Provide comprehensive patient- and family-centered care within the scope and standards of professional nursing practice. This role is for a PCU/Stepdown RN working in an 8-bed MST overflow unit.

Shift:

3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
Rotating weekends
No on-call requirements

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience within the last year
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Medication Administration by IV Push (MAB) certification
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

7-year background check required within 6 months of start
Annual updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screening
Education verification (highest level achieved) required
Sex offender search within 90 days of start
Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
Respiratory safety clearance required annually
References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)
Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; employment verification required

Additional Requirements

Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry)
Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and others prior to start
TB questionnaire completed and signed by healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually
Compliance with state-specific Medi-Cal search if FACIS III cannot be run
