Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 5:15 PM)
- Call requirement: 1-2 shifts per week including nights and weekends; 2 weekend calls every 6-week schedule (dates subject to change)
- Must be proficient in main Operating Room surgeries
- Service lines include Urology, Pediatric Urology, Pediatric General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Plastics, ENT, DaVinci Robotic Surgery, and some Gynecology
- No block scheduling requests accepted
- Candidates with more than 7 days Return to Office (RTO) are not accepted
- Orientation dates available (specific dates not included here)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic system
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (full vaccine within 10 years; declinations allowed except for Pediatrics, PICU, Pediatric ER, Mom & Baby, Labor & Delivery units)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: proof of 2 vaccines or positive antibody IgG titer; no declinations allowed
- Hepatitis B: proof of 3 vaccines or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form within past year
- Varicella: proof of 2 vaccines or positive antibody IgG titer; no declinations allowed
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start; chest x-ray and symptom questionnaire required if positive TB test
- Drug testing: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start, must be started within 72 hours of booking
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
Documentation and Compliance
- Background checks including 7-year history, Pima County AZ search, OFAC, National Sex Offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
- Employment application with last 7 years of work history; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Two professional references from employment within last 3 years, including one supervisory reference
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Facility-specific job description and orientation sign-off required
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for certain units
- Traveler welcome letter must be signed prior to start
- Review and compliance with facility tobacco, nicotine, and vaping policy
