Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Location: Dothan, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in the Emergency Room setting.
• Required certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support).
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required.
• Must hold a current Alabama RN license or a compact RN license.
• Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama.
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Bring a valid Driver’s License/State ID matching the name on RN license.
• Provide Social Security Card or last four digits of SSN for internal verification.
• Complete a 7-year criminal background check including nationwide and sex offender registry, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Complete Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and obtain clearance prior to orientation (time sensitive).
• Complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (deadline: Friday before start week).
• Provide a passport-style photo without nose rings within 72 hours of signing contract for badge creation.
• Submit proof of physical exam updated annually, fit mask test (3M models only) within 12 months prior to start.
• Provide negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year or chest X-ray if previously positive.
• Submit immunization or titer proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (vaccination, titer, or declination accepted).
• Drug screening: 10-panel test within 90 days of start, no instant/rapid tests accepted, updated annually.
• Flu vaccination required for all placements starting on or after September 15; no declinations accepted except medical or religious exemptions on facility form (mask required if exempt).
• COVID-19 vaccination is voluntary.

Additional Notes

• Candidate must complete HIPAA attestation and core competency exams (Core Exams I-III preferred).
• Must provide two clinical references from within the last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary).
• Employment application/resume required.
• Skills checklist for applicable unit must be updated annually.
• Preferred name for badge must be confirmed before start.

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses who meet licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable working 12-hour day shifts on a travel contract basis.
