Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Anniston, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, every other week (EOW)
• Schedule: Option for 4x12 hour shifts
• Float position with possible charge nurse duties as needed
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Skills required: IV starts, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred (not mandatory)
• 30-minute lunch break required, no skipped meals

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• National Tech Cert Verification
• Proficient in IV starts

Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
• Years of experience: Not explicitly stated; implied preference for experienced nurses with Level II Trauma experience
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Education verification (official transcript, diploma, or third-party verification)
• State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start

Additional Information

• Locals within a 60-mile radius considered
• Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start
• Annual competency exams and skills checklist required

This position is ideal for a Medical Surgical RN with solid clinical skills, preferably with trauma experience, looking for a travel contract opportunity on night shifts with a supportive patient ratio.
