ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (schedule based on unit needs)
• No on-call required
• Floating required: May float to other units or locations within the region
• No call responsibilities
• Opportunity to float to multiple nearby locations
• Contracted hours guaranteed
• First-time travel nurses accepted

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must be renewed annually)

Immunizations & Health Requirements

• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific documentation
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (valid for 5 years once on file)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (QGold or 2 negative PPDs accepted; Tspot not accepted)
• Titers required within 5 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, including marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required; must be fully shaven)

Background & Compliance Checks

• Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including international searches
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 90 days of start
• Monthly HHS/OIG checks required
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting must be completed if no prior clearance exists; clearance can take up to 10 days or longer if prior hits)
• Education verification required; candidates from certain disqualified institutions will not be accepted

Additional Requirements

• Clear, passport-style photo with white background for badge
• Completion of facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgement, confidentiality agreement, values attestation, and badge form
• Auto insurance required if working in home health settings (not applicable here)

Notes

• Candidates may be required to work holidays to meet unit scheduling needs
• Strict policies on flu vaccine exemptions; documentation must be submitted by deadlines to avoid removal from assignment
• Floating may include multiple nearby facilities within the region

This position is ideal for ICU Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience, EPIC proficiency, and the required certifications who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within a regional hospital system.
