Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Taos, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, primarily 4x10 hours (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM), with some flexibility for 5x8 or other shifts as needed
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Role: OR RN Circulator
- Strong orthopedic experience required
- Robotic surgery experience required
- Charge nurse experience is a plus
- Local candidates within 75 miles preferred
- ASAP start heavily preferred
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Mexico
- NURSYS verification required
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start, including expiration and disciplinary status
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; if history of positive TB, clear chest X-ray within 1 year required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within past 10 years (declination only with valid medical reason and physician letter)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required for low titers; medical exemptions allowed
- Hepatitis B vaccine series and positive titer required; declination accepted only with positive titer and informed risk acknowledgment
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required for low titers; medical exemptions allowed
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screen not acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); unvaccinated must wear mask at all times during flu season
- COVID vaccine series or facility-specific declination required
Competency and Orientation Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) required with passing score of at least 80% prior to start
- Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgements required
- Professional photo for badge required (clear, close-up, solid background)
- TB questionnaire must be completed prior to start
- Various facility policy and conduct forms must be signed prior to start
References and Employment History
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history, including locations, gaps, and end dates in MM/YYYY format
- Skills checklist for applicable unit must be updated annually
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with recent OR experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Strong orthopedic experience
Additional Notes
- Fit testing for masks is done onsite during orientation
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Charge nurse experience is a plus but not mandatory
