Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Stepdown/Cardiac unit. This role involves providing care in a cardiac telemetry or progressive care setting such as PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 recent years of experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown units, with at least 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience
- Experience with telemetry monitoring
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), and Stepdown settings
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and others as required within 90 days of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (declinations not accepted)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Skills checklist and employment application with 7 years of work history
- Competency exam and unit-specific training during orientation
- Setup of a guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
Orientation & Training
- Bi-weekly orientation sessions
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge (except RRTs) during orientation
Additional Notes
- Blocked scheduling is not available
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation accepted on file
