Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ED) in Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed the day before or after holidays or on weekends
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope of practice as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in the Emergency Department, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Bystander Intervention Training Certificate

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, with medical/religious exemptions allowed
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as required
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

- This is a mandatory float facility; all staff must be willing to float as needed within their scope of practice.
- No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
- Locals are accepted and preferred for this role.
