Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical - Neuro Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location

• Columbia, Missouri

Unit Details

• 24-bed Neurosciences unit
• Floating required to Medical-Surgical unit

Schedule

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holidays; must work at least 50% of holidays during contract
• Ability to take call required

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Stroke experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA or ARC Provider card)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred (AHA or ARC Provider card)
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred but not required
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC for ER RNs, but not specified here)

Physical & Work Environment Demands

• Active role requiring ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses
• Facility operates 24/7, including inclement weather conditions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of I-9 or attestation
• Valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• 7-year background check within 60 days of start (including alias search, criminal, sex offender, social security trace, and international checks if applicable)
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Caregiver Background Screening results required within 60 days; cannot start with both pending
• Negative 7-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
• Primary source verification of Missouri RN license within 60 days
• NURSYS verification within 60 days
• Photo for badge (new candidates only)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205); not required for some non-clinical roles
• Immunizations and health screenings (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or approved exemption
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol; positive TB requires additional documentation
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; medical exemptions only
  • Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer; declinations not accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023
  • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines; medical exemptions only
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Completion of facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreement, new hire packet, and employment eligibility certification within 60 days

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work full term at assigned location
• Ability to work substantial portion of assigned shifts
• Must be able to float to Medical-Surgical unit as needed

References & Employment History

• Two professional references within last 2 years required
• Resume must document at least 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days; education and contact info must be included
