Job Opportunity: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Oregon, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and adjust plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
  • Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices.
  • Assess patient progress and modify treatments accordingly.
  • Evaluate treatment outcomes and make referrals as needed.
  • Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
  • Provide comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.
  • Document all required information accurately in electronic systems and maintain patient records.
  • Record treatment minutes according to regulatory and clinical requirements.
  • Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
  • Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
  • Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
  • Maintain active ASHA certification and Missouri State licensure.

Requirements

  • Specialty: Speech and Language Pathology
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of SLP experience required (New graduates accepted if Level II experience completed, not just Level I observation).
  • Additional Experience: Long-term care (LTC) or rehabilitation experience required.
  • Licensure: Missouri State License required (Compact allowed).
  • Certification: CCC-SLP required.
  • Preferred: 3 years experience holding active CCS certification.
  • References: One reference accepted at time of submission.

Work Environment & Productivity

  • Typical treatment times for SLP are approximately 30 minutes per session.
  • Caseload may range from 10-14 patients per day depending on number of evaluations.
  • Group therapy is allowed, which supports productivity.
  • Therapists typically have dedicated devices for documentation.
  • Productivity expectations:
    • Evaluating therapists: 88-90%
    • Assistants: 90-93%
