Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Implement components of patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
• Obtain data related to treatments provided and collaborate with the PT to modify care as necessary
• Assist patients of all ages, from newborns to end-of-life care
• Help patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups
• Follow instructions from the Physical Therapist
• Work directly with the Physical Therapist to assist patients
• Communicate with families to find the best at-home techniques
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of physical therapy areas
• Assist patients in moving from wheelchairs or walkers to therapy areas
• Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork
• Teach patients techniques like balance training

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (highest required years of experience)
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings required
• Valid PTA license required
• 8 hours of New Business Orientation (NBO) required

• Supportive nursing team collaborating closely with therapy and doctors

• Patient population includes a wide variety of cognitive, dietary, and neurological diagnoses
• Mix of short-term rehab patients and long-term care residents
• Focus on building long-term care programming and providing effective therapy for short-term rehab patients
